Supporting Independence Through Our Home to Home Shop

Our Home-to-Home shop provides customers with a range of new and pre-loved items, completely free of charge, to help them set up and personalise their homes as they move along their journey to independence. We’re excited to share some wonderful feedback we've received from both colleagues and customers following recent visits to our Home to Home donation hub.

These visits were made even more special thanks to a generous donation from Online Home Shop, who have kindly supported the project by providing quality items from their returns department.

The impact of these donations has been immediate and heartwarming:

• A young person supported by our BAS service was “sooooooo happy with her haul” and excited about how nice her flat is going to look. Colleagues described how visits to the hub have become meaningful support sessions, helping customers settle and feel proud of their new homes.
• One colleague spoke about supporting a customer with a 13-month-old and a 4-week-old who recently moved into an unfurnished property. After receiving essentials, the trip to the hub was “the icing on the cake”
• Another customer, aged 75, appreciated both the items she picked out and the uplifting day out.
• Another colleague shared how their young person said, “Today is my lucky day,” expressing disbelief and gratitude at being able to choose so many lovely items for free. She shared how the change from dark to lighter curtains had a positive effect on her mood and environment.
• And from our colleagues, the joy is just as strong. Scarlett summed it up perfectly: “This has been my best day at work.”

Thanks to Online Home Shop’s generosity and the commitment of everyone involved in the Home to Home project, we are not only filling homes, we are lifting spirits, promoting dignity, and supporting independence in a tangible, meaningful way.
