Dave Smith

Chief Executive

Dave joined Stepping Stone Projects in November 2019 having worked in social housing in London and Greater Manchester for over 30 years. He has previously held a number of senior and director roles in frontline housing management and operations, homeless and support services, regeneration and finance and business support services.

Dave has returned to Rochdale where he worked for both the council and Rochdale Boroughwide Housing. Having started as a housing officer he worked his way up to be an Assistant Director before joining First Choice Homes Oldham as a Director. He is passionate in helping SSP to remain the best homeless and support charity in the region and to expand our activities into new services and boroughs.

As Chief Executive, Dave’s main responsibilities are to provide leadership and strategic management as directed by the Board of Trustees and ensure that the organisation delivers its services in line with Stepping Stone Projects’ core vision and values.

Dave has a degree in Economics from Manchester University and a Diploma in Housing Studies from the London School of Economics. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing. Dave has also served as a housing association board member and Chair.
