Trainer House, Burnley

The ‘Trainer’ house offers short-stay accommodation for any young person thinking of leaving the family home. The idea is that they can stay in the trainer house for a period of time whilst our partner agencies work with the family in an attempt to prevent a relationship breakdown.

What help will clients receive?

Whilst accommodated in the house, the young person will receive a bespoke support and training package that will help them to become familiar with the key aspects of independent living. They will also be given an independence allowance with deductions for bill payments, and be referred for our Lifewise group sessions to learn more about what it’s like to live independently. The hope is that they will be able to then make a well-informed decision prior to leaving the family home and will have a much better understanding of what living independently entails.

Who is eligible for the service?

Young people who have presented to a service in East Lancashire and requested accommodation away from the family home are eligible for the service.
