INTRODUCTION
Stepping Stone Project has recently been successful in winning a tender to deliver a new Floating Support service in Wigan. The Local Authority had previously identified a gap in provision for young people aged between 16 and 65 who have housing related support needs. We are delighted to be able to work in partnership with the Local Authority and other agencies in the Borough to ensure that this new service is a success.
WHAT THE SERVICE DELIVERS
Floating support services provide housing-related support for up to two years to enable Service Users to develop the skills and networks they require to live independently in their own accommodation. The new service is aimed at people who have complex or multiple needs including:
- Chaotic substance and alcohol misuse issues
- Enduring mental health Issues
- Offenders and those with an offending history
NEXT STAGES
The first stage will be to recruit staff to the new Floating Support team. We will shortly be delivering presentations to referring agencies, potential service users and other stakeholders to promote the new service across the Wigan borough and to encourage referrals.
Newly appointed staff will complete a full induction training programme before the service goes live.
We are currently accepting referrals, to download a referral/self referral form please click here.
