The Service is designed specifically for people who have substance misuse related support needs, and will consider all referrals for those still using to an excess or abstinent for a period of time. We offer this service in partnership with Turning Point (Turning Point deliver the accommodation element of the service and Stepping Stones Projects deliver the floating support element).

What the Service Delivers
This floating support service provides support to enable vulnerable people with a variety of substance misuse needs to manage their own tenancies.

Who is Eligible for the Service?
Vulnerable people, who have substance misue issues and housing related support needs, are eligible for this service.

How to Access the Service
Referrals to the scheme must be made through the Central Access Information and Assessment Service which is operated by Shelter on behalf of Rochdale MBC. Shelter complete the assessments for all applicants and liaise with Stepping Stone Projects regarding waiting lists and the allocation of vacancies based on an assessment of need.
Shelter can be contacted on 0344 515 1850 or via e-mail at centralaccess( at ) .

We operate a waiting list due to the heavy flow of referrals we recive and prioritise applicants based on need. As we empower people to live independently, clients move on quickly and time on the waiting list is minimised.

What support is offered?
The scheme provides support with all major issues a Client may be dealing with, including:

  • Accessing specialist alcohol / substance misuse related agencies
  • Accessing alcohol / substance misuse related supported accommodation
  • Accessing detox services
  • Maintaining a tenancy
  • Developing independent living skills
